LC 500 Convertible

For some driving enthusiasts, there’s no substitute for open-air motoring. This make-or-break factor was one of the inspirations behind Lexus developing the LC 500 Convertible. At the same time, the automaker made sure the soft-top experience wouldn’t take away from behind-the-wheel enjoyment. Lexus engineers created a four-layer top design supported by magnesium and aluminum hardware and a responsive hydraulic actuation system. The LC Convertible’s top can open or close in about 16 seconds, even while the car is driven as fast as 31 mph.

Underneath the hood of this swoopy soft-top lies a performance beast, a Lexus-built V8 engine capable of propelling the car to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. If the urge arises, this convertible can take to the track to reach an electronically limited speed of 168 mph. To make the 2026 Lexus LC 500 Convertible even more of a standout, the automaker is producing just 150 copies of the Inspiration Series edition for North America. Its Wind Gray exterior is paired with a brown and silver top and a saddle tan and white interior.

Trim and Powertrain

The single-trim 2026 LC Convertible has a 471-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine that uses a ten-speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear wheels. Its fuel economy as estimated by the EPA is 15 mpg around town and 25 mpg on the open road.

Standard Features and Optional Packages

Lexus equipped the LC Convertible with unique features to support an open-air environment. These include a polycarbonate wind deflector, a separate high-speed windscreen, and cabin audio equalization. Meanwhile, the standard Lexus Climate Concierge coordinates the HVAC, seat heaters, neck heaters, and heated steering wheel for steady comfort with the top raised or lowered. An underbody brace improves chassis rigidity, and an adaptive variable suspension with rear performance dampers and a limited-slip rear differential ensures confident handling. Of course, the LC Convertible is a Lexus. So its standard amenities include leather upholstery, eight-way power heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, proximity keyless entry, LED exterior lighting, push-button start, and 21-inch staggered-width alloy wheels.

For a more customized LC Convertible, the Lexus Bespoke Build program allows for tailored combinations of wheels, spoiler, roof, and trim with an interior badge and a washi-paper certificate signed by the LC chief engineer. The limited-run (a mere 150 units) Inspiration Series adds a head-up display, upgraded audio, unique door scuff plates, blacked-out exterior elements, front bumper canards, and 21-inch forged alloy wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

The Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 comes standard to equip the convertible with a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control with lane-tracing assist, road sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Its other standard advanced driver-assistance technologies are blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, semi-autonomous parking support, a surround-view monitor, and parking sensors. The LC’s underlying safety equipment includes eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The LC 500 Convertible’s infotainment system provides convenient fingertip access through a high-definition 12.3-inch touchscreen. The platform incorporates wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. It also comes with Wi-Fi hotspot capability and access to Lexus connected services. The standard 12-speaker audio system is upgraded to a 13-speaker Mark Levinson arrangement in the Inspiration Series and as an option for the regular edition.
