Trim and Powertrain
Lexus offers the TX 550h+ as a single, fully loaded trim package called Luxury. Its powertrain pairs a 3.5-liter V6 with a plug-in hybrid electric system, making a combined 404 horsepower. An electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) controls the standard all-wheel drivetrain. When it’s fully charged, the TX 550h+ provides an all-electric range of up to 33 miles before the V6 kicks in to work with the electric motors for conventional hybrid operation (estimated combined fuel economy: 29 mpg). The TX 550h+ can tow up to 5,000 pounds as long as it’s properly equipped.
Standard Equipment
The long list of standard equipment for the TX 550h+ includes automatic climate control, a hands-free power liftgate, a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, a driver’s position memory system, auto-leveling headlights with cornering lamps, and a 12.3-inch driver information display. Its seating parameters include luxurious semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power front seats (with cushion extenders), heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs, and power-folding third-row seats (two). The TX 550h+ also has power-folding side mirrors, rear sunshades (manual operation), ambient cabin lighting, multiple USB ports, wireless device charging, and 22-inch alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard in the TX. It includes adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and intersection support (to minimize collision risk during left turns at intersections), lane departure alert, lane-tracing assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and parking assist with automatic braking. The available Technology Package adds a surround-view monitor, a digital rearview mirror, a head-up display, and remote parking support. This model’s other safety equipment includes ten airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, Smart Stop technology (to reduce the risk of unintended acceleration), and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Infotainment inside the TX 550h+ is managed through a 14-inch touchscreen. The system is enhanced with Cloud Navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Mark Levinson audio system with 21 speakers. Lexus also includes access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and connected services (for emergency support, vehicle access, and other remote features).
