Lexus presents the 2024 RC F in a Base trim and the performance-overloaded Track Edition. Both are equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 472 hp and 395 lb.-ft. of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission (with paddle shifters) and a performance-focused rear-wheel drivetrain. The Base achieves a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds, while the Track Edition accomplishes it in just 3.96 seconds. This model is more about fortitude than efficiency, carrying an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 16 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway.
The RC F Base is replete with upscale features, such as high-back sport seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, performance-inspired digital instrumentation with a G-force display and lap timer, aluminum sport pedals, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, LED headlights and taillights, and illuminated door handles. On the performance side, it has transmission paddle shifters, selectable drive modes (Sport S/S+ and Custom), a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, an adaptive variable suspension, 19-inch matte-black wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, Brembo brakes, a speed-activated rear wing, a lower front spoiler, and a rear bumper diffuser. The Track Edition furthers the plushness with leather upholstery, black Alcantara and carbon-fiber interior trim, lightweight 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with red calipers, and titanium mufflers. It also saves weight with these carbon-fiber exterior features: roof, hood, front spoiler, rocker-panel splitters, rear diffuser, and fixed rear wing.
The 2024 RC F has been built with a rigid body structure with strategically located crumple zones to optimize passenger safety. The Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of active driving aids is also installed, equipping both trims with a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, lane tracing assist, and automatic high beams. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert comes standard as well.
The standard infotainment system in the RC F starts with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 10-speaker audio system. The other pertinent components are Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth technology for hands-free phone and audio streaming. A 30-day free trial to Wi-Fi Connect is standard as well. For those who aren’t especially fond of using a touchscreen in a vehicle, this infotainment system can also be controlled via the designated remote touchpad.
The RC F can be ordered with some significant optional upgrades. The Premium Package for the lower trim includes a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a rear-seat center console with cupholders and a center armrest with trunk pass-through, active parking assist, and enhanced machined-finish wheels. The Carbon Package bundles those same features, along with black carbon-fiber interior and exterior elements and a wider selection of paint colors.
Both trims are eligible for the Premium Audio Package, which upgrades the standard infotainment system with a 10.3-inch touchscreen, onboard navigation, a top-quality 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, dynamic voice recognition, and destination assist. The All-Weather Package bundles headlamp washers and a windshield wiper de-icer. Some of the RC F’s a la carte options are triple-beam LED headlights, orange metallic Brembo brakes, a power moonroof, and active parking assist.
