Trims and Electric Architecture

There are four 2024 RZ trim levels. The two versions of the five-passenger crossover are the FWD 300e and AWD 450e, both of which are offered with Premium and Luxury trim packages. The newly introduced 300e models get a single front-axle electric motor making 201 hp and 196 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 450e trims feature an extra rear-axle motor that boosts output to 308 hp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque.

With the 300e Premium, you can travel up to 266 miles on a full charge, as the front-wheel drivetrain and 18-inch wheels are more efficient. Since the Luxury grade has 20-inch wheels, its range dips to 224 miles. The more potent 450e Premium’s range is officially estimated at 220 miles, while the 450e Luxury trim supplies 196 miles.

Charging

“Refueling” the ’24 RZ is a remarkably efficient process. When it’s connected to a 240-volt Level 2 charger, the RZ will need about 9.5 hours to reach full charge. A significantly faster charge can be achieved at a DC fast-charging station, as that will take the RZ’s charge level up to 80 percent in as little 30 minutes. Regenerative braking is a feature of the ’24 RZ as well. It captures the mechanical energy from braking and stores it as electrical power in the battery (the degree of regen can be controlled using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel).

Equipment By Trim

The Premium trims of both the 300e and 450e are well outfitted, getting NuLuxe (simulated leather) upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats with driver’s position memory, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof, Lexus’ SmartAccess key card, rain-sensing windshield wipers, auto-dimming side mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down and position memory, ambient interior lighting, wireless phone charging, active sound control, five USB-C ports, bi-LED headlights and daytime running lights, and 18-inch wheels. The Luxury trims add Digital Key, a 10-inch head-up display, synthetic-suede (Ultrasuede) upholstery, heated rear outboard seats, acoustic sound-reducing glass, a front radiant heater, 20-inch wheels, and Thematic Ambient Illumination, an enhanced ambient interior lighting system called with exclusive color themes.

All trims are eligible to add a digital rearview mirror, headlamp washers, an illuminated front badge, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Only the Luxury trims qualify for the available Dynamic Sky panoramic glass roof.

Advanced Driving Aids

Every 2024 Lexus RZ has the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite installed. It bundles all-speed dynamic radar cruise control with curve speed management, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and intersection support, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Also standard are a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, a panoramic view monitor, and digital latch with safe exit assist. The Luxury trim versions receive Advanced Park with Remote Park (automated parking), along with traffic jam assist and lane change assist with front cross-traffic alert.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The sophisticated Lexus Interface infotainment system comes standard in the RZ. It’s housed within a 14-inch touchscreen that used to manage wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. The audio system in both trims is first-rate, but while the Premium gets a 10-speaker unit, the Luxury moves up to a Mark Levinson branded system with 13 speakers. Both trims also come with Drive Connect, which features Cloud Navigation, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist.
