Lexus offers two versions of the LS: the standard LS 500 trim and the LS 500 F Sport edition. Both come with a 416-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine. A ten-speed automatic transmission manages the standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) or optional all-wheel drive (AWD). With RWD, the LS is EPA-rated for 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Fuel economy changes to 17 city/27 highway with AWD.
The LS 500 comes with an extensive roster of standard equipment, befitting its status as the flagship Lexus sedan. These features start with leather upholstery, a power moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, 16-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, a hands-free power trunk, a head-up display, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a power rear sunshade, and LED exterior lighting with adaptive headlights (the beams sync with the turning of the steering wheel). It also has auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors, six USB ports, wireless device charging, a digital key (a smartphone app for vehicle access without a physical key), and 19-inch noise-reducing alloy wheels. Added in conjunction with the AWD option are a windshield wiper de-icer, headlamp washers, and an enhanced cabin heating system.
The F Sport is upgraded with an adaptive variable suspension, premium brakes with larger ventilated discs, unique exterior treatments, and 20-inch noise-reducing alloy wheels. There are other F Sport touches, including perforated leather upholstery, 28-way power-adjustable front seats with enhanced bolsters, a passenger-seat power cushion extender, an Ultrasuede-trimmed headliner, a heated wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel, performance-inspired instrumentation, and aluminum pedals and interior trim.
Lexus Safety System 3.0, the automaker’s latest collection of advanced driver-assist technology, is standard with the 2024 LS. The driver is supported with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors with automatic braking, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. A surround-view monitor is standard on the F Sport and optional for the core LS 500. Both trim levels also have a ten-airbag occupant protection system (including side protection for the rear outboard seats), vehicle stability control, anti-lock brakes, traction control, Smart Stop (a braking system that limits unintended acceleration), and a rearview monitor.
The infotainment features for either trim package of the 2024 Lexus LS are managed via a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The system is enhanced with a 12-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth connectivity, cloud-based navigation, Hey Lexus audio commands, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and connected services (for emergency help and remote features).
