Versions and Powertrain

The ’20 Lexus RX is available in quite a variety of versions: the gas-only RX 350, RX 350 F Sport, and RX 350L, and the hybrid RX 450h, RX 450h F Sport, and RX 450hL. The RX models have two rows of seating, but the extra-long RXL versions have a third. Under the hood of the gas-only models is a 3.5-liter V6 (295 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, which dips a tad to 290 hp and 263 lb.-ft. of torque on the RXL); that engine is joined to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. The RX 450h and RX 450hL hybrid variations get AWD and a continuously variable transmission as standard equipment. Their power comes from the combination of a 3.5-liter V6 and a self-charging electric motor to make 308 total system horsepower.

Convenient Amenities

All versions of the ’20 RX receive SmartAccess with push-button start, multi-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, power-folding/-reclining second-row seats, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and a USB-equipped center console. NuLuxe seating materials are standard on all versions except for the F Sport trims, which get their own unique sport seats. Other F Sport exclusives include ambient interior lighting, power-folding auto-dimming outside mirrors, driver’s-seat memory functions, distinctive exterior styling, and racing-inspired interior touches such as aluminum pedals, a perforated-leather steering wheel, and F Sport-specific stitching.

There are also plenty of a la carte options for each RX trim, with the highlights being a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel and a power rear door with kick sensor. An F Sport Performance Package will include an adaptive variable suspension, an electronic power steering wheel, and Sport S+ drive modes. Heated and ventilated front seating can be added as an option to all RXs except for the 450h F Sport (which gets it as standard); a panoramic glass roof is standard for the RXL versions and optional for the rest.

Safety & Technology

Each of the RX versions comes with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0, which consists of automatic emergency braking, radar cruise control, automatic high beams, daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, road sign detection, and lane-tracing assist. The options available for each version range from a panoramic view monitor to LED cornering fog lamps, plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Every 2020 Lexus RX is set up with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, HD radio, and satellite radio. Buyers can add to any trim a panoramic-view camera system, Lexus Enform Destination Assist technology, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with integrated navigation, a color head-up display, and a premium 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system. The F Sport upgrades will add a performance-oriented digital instrumentation cluster.
